(OTCBB:BHRT.OB - News) announced today that their clinical paper has been accepted for publication in a prominent peer reviewed medical journal. The American Heart Journal has accepted for publication "A Double-blind, Randomized, Controlled, Multicenter Study to Assess the Safety and Cardiovascular Effects of Skeletal Myoblast Implantation by Catheter Delivery in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure Following Myocardial Infarction." Results of part one of the MARVEL phase II/III study were previously presented by Thomas Povsic, MD, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University. In comparison with the placebo group, myoblast therapy was associated with sustained (6 months) improvements in exercise capacity distance of greater than 90 meters, an increase that would be of great importance to patients if replicated in larger studies.

The study's Principal Investigator Warren Sherman, MD, Director of Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine at the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy of Columbia University Medical Center stated, "We are gratified that the results of this component of the MARVEL Program will be published in the AHJ, a journal of such high caliber and rigorous peer review process. NEWPORT CITY -- Bill Stenger announced Friday that he and partners are committed to opening a new bio-tech
manufacturing and research plant in Newport City, bringing 200 jobs.
Stenger, Jay Peak co-owner and president, confirmed that he and Gov. Peter Shumlin will have a press conference 11
a.m. Friday in Newport City to announce the time line for the project.
Stenger is partnering with South Korean company AnC Bio to build a $50 million plant here called AnC Bio VT, a
multi-story research and manufacturing facility next to the existing Bogner plant, Stenger said.
The deal closed Friday, Stenger said. Stenger and his partners paid more than $3 million for the Bogner plant and 25
acres, buying it from local owners Jim Mulkin and Fred Oeschger.
The press conference will unveil the schedule for development, permitting and construction of the plant. And some of the
partners in AnC Bio VT will be in Newport City for the event, Stenger said.
"We are at a point of total commitment to the project," Stenger said.
"We've been waiting for this," said Patricia Sears, Newport City Renaissance Corporation executive director. "We've been
working to get the environment ready for such an opportunity."
Stenger, a Newport City resident, joined former Gov. Jim Douglas in South Korea and Asia several years ago to clinch the
start of the deal that now is bringing the plant to Newport City.
AnC Bio makes artificial organs and other bio-tech products at its South Korean plant.
The new Newport facility will manufacture portable dialysis and cell therapy machines, vaccines and other bio-medical
supplies, as well as conduct cutting-edge research and development.
Jobs would range from high-end research positions to clean-room manufacturing and support.
Stenger called the Bogner site a great location for the AnC Bio VT facility.
The city has adopted a new zoning plan that encourages development such as the bio-tech plant and the creation of
multi-use housing and development all around the plant and the rest of the city.
Stenger said other companies in the bio-tech field "have reached out to us, extremely interested in collaboration and
being with us."
This kind of collaboration could make Newport City "a small bio-tech hub," he said.

The proximity to Canada and the potential for a foreign trade zone creates many opportunities, he said.
Renaissance Corporation, with the city and other partners, is seeking a federal Foreign Trade Zone status for parts of
Orleans County that would mean tax benefits for businesses such as AnC Bio VT that import foreign parts for products,
Sears said.
Northeastern Vermont Development Association is working with other high-tech medical companies that are interested in
creating a consortium that can benefit from cooperation.
"This will put Newport on the map," Sears said. "We are continuing to prepare Newport for success" with new marketing
campaigns and videos primed and ready.
The city will be looking forward to a ripple effect as other businesses begin to look to Newport City as a place to locate
because of the presence of the AnC Bio VT plant, Sears said.
Stenger said the plan is to build the research facility while using the existing plant.
Stenger said the developers will be able to accommodate Northeast Kingdom Mental Health, which has offices at the site,
for quite some time.
Bogner offices moved to Burlington earlier this year. The plant used to make ski wear but has been closed down for
years.
Stenger raised capital for the AnC Bio VT plant through a federal program called EB-5, where foreign investors can invest
in job creation here in exchange for green cards for themselves and their families.
He tapped the same source of income for the multi-million-dollar expansion under way at Jay Peak Resort, where an
indoor water park and second hotel and convention center are to be completed this winter.
An ice arena, Nordic ski center/golf clubhouse and first hotel have been completed.
The water park is scheduled to open in December.
And he continues to work with developer Tony Pomerleau on a Newport City waterfront hotel on Lake Memphremagog.

AnC Bio 의 휴대용 혈액투석 기술 유럽에서 발간하는 글로벌 과학 서적에 게재

글로벌 과학 서적에 한국의 휴대용 혈액투석 기술이 소개된다. 글로벌 신기술, 과학서적을 발간하는 INTECH에서 발간하는 “Hemodialysis – 혈액투석” 텍스트북에 한국의 AnC Bio의 휴대용 혈액 투석기(인공신장)인 C-PAK 기술이 한 Chapter 를 차지하며 자세히 소개된다. 혈액 투석에 대한 교과서 격인 형태로 출간되는 이 전문 서적에는 혈액투석에 대한 현존하는 전세계의 기술이 소개되는데, 서울대 의공학과와 공동개발하고 AnC Bio가 원천 특허 기술을 보유한 휴대용 혈액투석기인 C-PAK 이 소개되는 것이다. 기존에는 투석 환자가 2-3일에 한 번 병원을 찾아 하루 4-5시간의 투석을 받아야 생명을 유지하여 투석 환자는 일상 생활을 거의 할 수 없는 실정이다. 그런데, AnC Bio의 C-PAK 은 기존 대형 냉장고 크기의 혈액투석기가 15KG 의 휴대가 가하게 개발되어 집이나 출장 중에 간편하게 투석이 가능하여 투석 환자도 일상 생활을 할 수 있도록 개발된 획기적인 제품이다. 줄기세포 이식보다 안전하고 효율적

장기나 뼈 등의 토대가 되는 줄기세포 배양액을 이용해 사람의 치아를 지탱하는 턱뼈인 치조골을 재생시키는 데 성공했다.

일본 나고야대 우에다 미노루 교수팀은 줄기세포를 이식하는 방법보다 안전하고 효율적인 치료가 될 것으로 기대하고 6월 교토시에서 열리는 일본염증·재생의학회에서 연구결과를 공개할 예정이라고 발표했다.

치주질환이나 발치로 치아를 잃게 되면 치아의 토대가 되는 치조골이 작아지고 치아를 재건하기 힘들어진다. 환자 본인의 치아나 인공뼈를 이식하는 등 방법이 있지만 수술시 부담이 크다는 단점이 있다.

연구팀은 사람의 골수줄기세포 배양액에서 위에 고인 부분을 농축하고 그 분말을 정제수에 녹인 것을 어금니가 결손된 40대 여성 환부에 임플란트(인공치근)와 함께 이식했다. 그 결과, 치조골이 재생되어 여성은 약 5개월 후에 단단한 것도 씹을 수 있게 됐다.

연구팀은 이에 앞서 줄기세포를 이식함에 따라 치조골을 재생시키는 데에도 성공한 바 있는데, 줄기세포에는 암화 위험성이 있어 보다 안전한 치료법을 모색해 왔다.

이처럼 뼈가 재생되는 메커니즘에 대해 연구팀은 줄기세포에 포함된 단백질이 배양액에 녹아나오고 그 단백질의 작용에 따라 체내에 원래 있는 줄기세포로 뼈의 재생이 촉진된 것으로 보고 있다.

우에다 교수는 "줄기세포 이식을 하지 않으면 세포를 배양하는 시설운용 비용과 매우 엄격한 관리가 불필효해져 치료를 실용화하는 것이 쉬워진다"고 설명했다.

에이앤씨바이오홀딩스 희토류 양양광산개발 대한광물㈜ 유상증자 납입완료

에이앤씨바이오홀딩스는 오늘(3월30일) 열린 정기주총에서 최근 대규모 희토류 매장이 확인되어 사업화를 시작한 강원도 양양소재 대한광물㈜의 지분 34%취득완료 및 신주발행 유상증자를 완료했다.

대한광물㈜은 주주총회 및 이사회를 통해 대한광물㈜지분 34%를 보유한 대한철광 보유지분 전체를 ㈜에이앤씨바이오홀딩스로 양도 양수하였으며, 광산개발 설비투자를 위한 최초 투자계획에 따라 한전산업과 ㈜에이앤씨바이오홀딩스로부터 신주발행 유상증자 납입을 완료했다.

㈜에이앤씨바이오홀딩스는 스포츠서울 데일리를 보유한 미디어사업부와 세포치료제등 바이오관련 사업부와 더불어 향후 자원개발 사업추진에 한층 탄력을 받을 것이다.

대한광물㈜은 한전산업개발이 51%, ㈜에이앤씨바이오홀딩스 34%, 한국광물자원공사가 15% 지분을 보유한 자본금 80억규모의 합자 회사이며, 특이사항으로는 ㈜에이앤씨바이오홀딩스는 금번 정기주총을 통해 기존 양양철광을 소유 개발한 산증인인 前대한철광 대표인 이형섭씨를 ㈜에이앤씨바이오홀딩스 자원개발 사업을 총괄하는 각자대표로 선임하였다.

대한광물㈜이 개발중인 양양철광산은 한 때 국내 철 생산량의 60％ 이상을 차지했던 국내 제일의 철광석광산이었으며 2007년부터 국제 원자재가격상승에따라 한국광물자원공사로부터 재 채광 경제성을 인정받고 재개발 사업 중이며 최근 철광석내 희토류가 포함되어 국내최초의 희토류 개발광산으로 주목 받고 있다.

양양광산의 철광석 추정 매장량은 약 964만톤(2011.2월 국제가 usd160/톤)으로 현재국제가 기준 약 1조7천억원가치이며 전량 포스코 등에 공급예정이며, 한국광물자원공사를 통해 조사된 매장희토류는 14종으로 추정매장량은 25만톤(2011년 2월 국제가 usd10만불/톤)으로 약 25조원가치가 예상된다.

㈜에이앤씨바이오홀딩스는 해당 양양광산은 금년 5월착공을 목표로 현재 배수작업 중이다. 철광석의 경우 금년 말 상업화를 목표로 생산준비 중이며, 특히 양양철광이 재가동될 경우 생산된 철광석은 인접한 속초항과 묵호항을 통해 포스코, 현대제철 등에 판매할 방침이어서 철광석 생산이 본격화되면 양양은 물론 동해안 일대 항만경기 활성화에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대되고 있다.

희토류는 영구자석과 2차전지 등 첨단산업의 핵심 원료로, 최근 중일(中日) 간 영토분쟁 때 중국이 수출을 통제하면서 글로벌 자원 전쟁의 핵심으로 주목 받고 있다.

희토류 대규모 매장 확인 2012년이후 본격 상업 생산

여기에 양양철광은 란타륨, 세륨, 툴륨, 이트륨 등 LED와 반도체, 하이브리드 차량 등에 사용돼 부가가치가 높은 광물로 알려진 희토류등이 총 14종의 매장이 확인돼 광업권 등록이 이뤄짐에 따라 채산성이 매우 높다는 것이 관계자들의 설명이다.

한국광물자원공사 고위 관계자는 "강원도 양양에서 폐(廢) 철광석 광산을 재개발하던 중 대규모 희토류를 발견했다"며 "희토류 추출 기술을 개발해 2012년부터 본격적인 상업 생산에 들어가기로 결정했다"고 밝혔다.

철광석과 희토류는 모두 마그마가 단기간에 지표까지 분출하면서 생성된 땅에 존재한다. 이 때문에 지질학적으로 철광석 광산 주변에서 희토류가 발견될 가능성이 크다고 한다.

☞ 희토류(稀土類·rare earth metal)

매장량이 매우 적은 희소금속의 한 종류이다. 란탄(lanthanum)계열 15개 원소(원자번호 57~71번)와 스칸듐(scandium), 이트륨(yttrium)을 포함한 17개 원소를 지칭한다. 워낙 희귀하고 세분화하는 것이 번거롭기 때문에, 이들 원소를 합쳐서 희토류라고 부른다. 전기자동차와 풍력발전기, 액정표시장치(LCD) 등을 만드는 데 필요한 현대 첨단 전자 제품 등에 필요한 핵심 원료이다.

(주)에이앤씨바이오 美 제휴사 "스테메디카"社 줄기세포 치료 시작

(주) 에이앤씨바이오와 기술라이센싱 계약을 체결한 바 있는 미국의 줄기세포 전문회사인 "스테메디카"가 줄기세포치료를 시작하였다.

전일 외신보도에 따르면 미국 줄기세포 전문회사인 스테메디카는 캘리포니아주립대(샌디에고)에서 진행 중인 뇌경색 치료 연구와 관련해 회사의 중간엽줄기세포를 이용한 치료법이 첫번째 환자 치료에 쓰였다고 밝혔다.

(주)에이앤씨바이오홀딩스 대한광물㈜ 주식 취득 및 유상증자 참여

(주)에이앤씨바이오 홀딩스는 2011년 1월 17일 양양 철광산을 운영하는 대한광물㈜ 주식 102,000주(34%)를 대한철광㈜로부터 취득한데 이어 2011년 3월22일 대한광물㈜의 유상증자에 참여하여 추가로170,000주를 취득하였다. 이로써 에이앤씨바이오홀딩스는 대한광물㈜ 총주식 725,000중 272,000주를 취득하였다. 대한광물(주) 양양 철광산은 현재 재개광 준비 중이며, 2012년 부터 본격적으로 철광석을 생산할 계획이다.
